Summer Training 2011

OEA is at tentatively planning a day of training on July 15 from 10am until 3pm
at the Winery of the Wichitas in Medicine Park which is just north of Lawton,
close to the Wildlife Refuge. Possible topics of discussion are:
*the parents of the boy who was bullied at Perkins making a presentation
*membership and recruiting of members
*the legislative session

Horace Mann can help with their Educator Scholarship Program! They are awarding 35 scholarships totaling $30,000 to Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers, librarians or teacher’s aides of any discipline.

* (1) $5,000 scholarship payable over four years.
* (16) $1,000 scholarships payable over two years.
* (18) $500 one-time scholarships.

Application deadline: March 1, 2011

Lincoln Fellowship

Attention LA Seniors

LATA is offering scholarships to Little Axe seniors.

We offer 2 scholarships of $500 each to Little Axe Seniors. There is an application available from me. The considerations are grade point average, financial need and an essay. They will need a recommendation from a Little Axe teacher.

LATA Scholarship applications are available from Mrs. Hale, HS rm 114, before/after school and during 2nd per.

Each spring, the OEA honors members, students, the media, and school district patrons who support and promote education. Nominations are due by January 31, and now you can complete the nomination forms online before you print them off and mail them to the OEA with all supporting material. Review the awards, make nominations and let’s get Little Axe noticed.
